Raiders defensive end Chandler Jones found himself in police custody on Friday in Las Vegas.
The arrest transpired during the early hours of Friday morning, mere hours after Jones, the Raiders’ pass rusher, posted a series of concerning social media messages. Among these posts was a video in which he broke down emotionally while discussing Aaron Hernandez’s suicide in prison.
Further information regarding the arrest has now come to light. It appears that Jones allegedly violated a temporary protective order related to a domestic violence situation, leading to his detention. Jail records indicate that he was held on bail set at $15,000, with Jones being arrested and processed into the Clark County Detention Center at approximately 12 a.m. local time.
Reports suggest that Jones took items from outside his former girlfriend’s residence and proceeded to burn them in his own backyard, subsequently sending videos of these actions to her.

The 33-year-old defensive end has been absent from play throughout the current season and has not been with the Raiders since Labor Day weekend. During that time, he posted a series of social media messages targeting the team, owner Mark Davis, general manager Dave Ziegler, and coach Josh McDaniels. He even made accusations against McDaniels regarding Aaron Hernandez and claimed that players were being administered fluoride injections while asserting that CTE “doesn’t exist.”
Jones revealed on social media on a Monday night that he had been involuntarily taken to a hospital by the Las Vegas Fire Department the previous week, subsequently being transferred to a behavioral health facility.
With a decorated NFL career that spans 11 seasons, including two All-Pro selections and four Pro Bowl appearances, it is abundantly clear that Jones will not be returning to the field in 2023.
