The current NFL season has not unfolded as the New York Jets had hoped, particularly after Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury during only his fourth snap with the team. Despite winning their season opener in his absence, they now find themselves at 1-2, grappling with internal tensions that the quarterback recently decided to address.
Tensions were already simmering between Breece Hall and the coaching staff prior to the Jets’ game against the Patriots at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. These tensions escalated as multiple players engaged in a sideline altercation during their 15-10 loss to New England.

Wide receiver Garrett Wilson appeared visibly discontented with the current starting QB, Zach Wilson, during an exchange in the third quarter. While some may argue that this particular exchange was overanalyzed, it became evident that Michael Carter was displeased with Jets running backs coach Taylor Embree (the same coach previously criticized by Hall) at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
The Jets face an uphill battle against the Chiefs on October 1st, and although they may have a temporary respite when they play the Broncos the following week, given Denver’s current form, it’s challenging to envision them holding their own against the Eagles on October 15th unless significant changes occur.
Aaron Rodgers is presently undergoing ankle rehabilitation. While he has hinted at the possibility of assisting the coaching staff once he’s sufficiently healed, he is mainly focused on sharing his vast NFL knowledge gained over nearly two decades in the league.
On Tuesday, the quarterback made an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show to address the current situation in New York.
He emphasized the need for the Jets to improve their conduct, particularly when they are aware that cameras are closely monitoring their actions. Here’s what he had to say:
“This is what teams have to go through. There’s adversity points in every season. This year it’s happening early and people are coming for us.
There’s some heated conversations on the sideline and different things; I think we need to hold our poise a little bit better. We need to not have some of those things happen on the sideline and to be a little better and be better competitors.”
We’ll have to wait and observe if his teammates heed that advice.
