Kindred spirits unite.
Quarterback Josh Dobbs recently formed a connection with another member of the Arizona Cardinals’ community who shares a common challenge—alopecia. This heartwarming encounter took place between Josh and a cheerleader named Ellie, and the team shared their touching exchange on X (formerly Twitter).

On the practice field, Josh Dobbs and Ellie crossed paths, and they discovered that they both had stories to share about their experiences with alopecia—an autoimmune disorder that targets hair follicles and results in hair loss.
“How long have you had alopecia?” Dobbs asked the cheerleader, who then replied that she was diagnosed in January.
“Very recent,” she said. “So basically right before auditions, I had lost 85%. I shaved it all and showed up to auditions with no hair.”
Alopecia has been a part of the athlete’s life for quite some time. According to Dobbs, his hair began falling out when he was in the third grade. It did briefly grow back, but by the time he reached college, it had almost completely disappeared.
The two of them chuckled together at the unpredictable nature of their shared condition before bidding each other farewell.
Dobbs currently holds the position of starting quarterback for the team, filling in for the injured Kyler Murray, who suffered an ACL tear during a game against the New England Patriots last December.
