Baker Mayfield has been quite forthcoming lately.
In their Week 1 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense had a sluggish start. However, as the game progressed, they found their rhythm and pulled off a 20-17 upset victory.
A key factor in their turnaround was Baker Mayfield’s ability to decipher the defensive strategy of the new Vikings defensive coordinator, Brian Flores. In an interview on the Buccaneers Radio Network, running back Rachaad White revealed that Mayfield had cracked the code on Minnesota’s scheme by halftime, leading to a significant shift in their performance during the second half.

Once the game was firmly in their control, it was time for celebration.
During the game, Mayfield could be heard suggesting that they all gather for a group hug in the locker room showers.

On Wednesday, Mayfield openly admitted that he had decoded the Vikings’ signals, enabling him and Tampa’s offense to excel in the second half.
The Buccaneers received possession at the start of the second half, and Mayfield wasted no time orchestrating a 16-play, 75-yard drive that culminated in a touchdown by Trey Palmer.
Mayfield’s final statistics for the game showed 21 completions out of 34 attempts, totaling 173 yards and two touchdowns. He also put an end to his personal nine-game losing streak on the road.
With this momentum, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers now have a strong chance to achieve a 2-0 record as they prepare to face the Chicago Bears, who are coming off a disappointing loss to the Green Bay Packers.
