After all the offseason hype and anticipation, Kadarius Toney delivered a forgettable performance in the Chiefs’ season opener against the Lions on Thursday night.
Toney, a pivotal figure in KC’s Super Bowl victory last season, made critical plays late in the game to secure a win over the Eagles. However, he’s now facing scrutiny as the presumed reason for the defending champions’ 0-1 start following a tight 21-20 loss.

The wide receiver, who spent most of the summer recovering from a knee injury, had a tough night, dropping three passes, with one unfortunate drop resulting in a pick-six.
The ball slipped through his hands and was intercepted by safety Brian Branch, who returned it for a 50-yard touchdown, leveling the game at 14-all in the third quarter.
In response to the disappointing performance, it seems Toney has deactivated his Twitter or social media account, as he became the subject of negative attention from fans.
Quarterback KC offered some support, acknowledging that not every game will go perfectly. He expressed confidence in Toney’s ability to make crucial catches in key moments, just as he did last season.
The quarterback emphasized that they would continue working with Toney to give him more opportunities, with the expectation that these drop issues would gradually fade away.
However, Toney wasn’t the only one struggling with dropped passes against Detroit. Head coach Andy Reid admitted that the team needed to address their receiving issues, especially after the “unusual showing.”
Fortunately, they anticipate the return of Travis Kelce, which should provide a boost as they prepare to face the Jaguars next weekend.
