New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham had a medical incident on Friday night and was subsequently taken into custody by authorities and transported to a hospital, according to a statement released by the Saints on Saturday.
The statement explains that Graham experienced a medical episode that left him disoriented, and as a result, he was placed in custody and taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
Dr. John Amoss, who believes Graham likely had a seizure, oversaw his care and he remained under medical supervision and testing overnight.
Graham was released from the hospital the following morning and rejoined the team as they prepared for their upcoming game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
The Newport Beach Police Department confirmed that Graham was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a narcotic and obstructing, delaying, and resisting an officer.
The police received a call about a suspicious person behaving erratically in the Pelican Hill Road area around 7:39 p.m. on Friday, and Graham was found wandering in traffic. The Saints released a statement following the bizarre incident:

He was later released and an investigation into the incident is ongoing. Graham re-signed with the Saints in July on a one-year contract after not playing in the NFL during the 2022 season and having stints with three different teams since 2015.
He initially joined the Saints in 2010 and spent the first five years of his career in New Orleans. Graham expressed his desire to return to his hometown during his signing with the team, stating that he couldn’t see himself wearing another jersey and was glad the opportunity to come back home arose.
The Saints are currently getting ready for their preseason game against the Chargers, which will take place in Los Angeles on Sunday evening. The team has been engaged in joint practices with the Chargers at their training camp facility in Costa Mesa, California, throughout the week.
