Fans in China left NBA star James Harden shocked when they purchased a staggering 10,000 bottles of his signature brand wine within seconds during his livestream appearance.
Harden, who currently plays as a guard for the Philadelphia 76ers, was visiting China, a nation renowned for its love of basketball.
The livestream took place on Tuesday on Douyin, the Chinese equivalent of TikTok, and was hosted by popular online personality Crazy Brother Yang.
The event garnered an impressive audience of over 15 million viewers, as reported by the state-backed newspaper Global Times.
During the live broadcast, Yang inquired about the average daily sales of bottles by Harden, who responded by stating “a few cases.”
“I will demonstrate how many orders I can fulfill instantly,” Yang stated. “Prove it,” Harden responded, crossing his arms. “Are you ready? Let’s go!”
Yang exclaimed into the camera. Fourteen seconds later, he shouted, “Stop!” An interpreter informed Harden that the initial batch of bottles, which consisted of 5,000 orders containing two bottles each priced at $60, had already sold out.
In disbelief, Harden burst into laughter and then double-checked the sales on a computer screen.
Shortly after, an additional 6,000 bottles were sold out within seconds during the second round, leading Harden to express his excitement by performing a cartwheel.

Harden’s livestream on Weibo, a popular microblogging site in China, quickly gained popularity and became a trending topic.
Numerous fans started suggesting that Harden should consider staying in China and transitioning into an online influencer if he is no longer enjoying his time in the NBA.
It is noteworthy that this trip marks Harden’s first visit to China since 2019, a year when the NBA faced backlash due to comments made by Daryl Morey, who was then the general manager of the Houston Rockets.
