Earlier this year, Anthony Rendon, the third baseman for the Angels, received a four-game suspension for attempting to slap a fan he had grabbed while leaving the field.
A few years ago, a similar incident almost occurred in minor league baseball when players reacted to a fan throwing a beer at them, reminiscent of The Malice at the Palace.
During a game between the Long Island Ducks and the Spire City Ghost Hounds of the independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, former Washington Nationals catcher Raudy Read found himself in a similar situation.
In the top of the tenth inning, after the Ghost Hounds turned a double play to end the frame and Long Island’s three-run rally, chaos ensued.
Caught on camera, Read hopped into the stands and sprinted up the stairs, seemingly chasing after a heckler who had been insulting him throughout the inning.

The Heckler was going hard at Raudy, allegedly.

Coaches quickly followed, attempting to restrain Read, who was eventually brought back to the clubhouse to cool off without confronting the individual who had provoked him.
