The legend of Gardner Minshew continues to grow.
Gardner Minshew has gained a reputation for being frugal with his money.
Despite earning a significant amount in his NFL career, including $5.2 million since 2019 and a projected $3.5 million with the Indianapolis Colts, he still drives a car from 2011. ESPN recently featured an article delving into Minshew’s life, discussing various topics such as the 2011 Acura his parents gave him for high school graduation and his sleeping habits before becoming a college star.
When he transferred to Pullman in 2018, Minshew even resorted to picking up a discarded mattress and boxspring from a dumpster, spending only $5 on a side table and $10 on a dresser.
He spent $5 on a side table, $10 on a dresser, and he found a box spring and mattress beside a dumpster. “It’s just to lay on and sleep,” he says.
By the end of this season, Minshew will have earned over $8.7 million in the NFL. Despite his NFL success, Minshew appears to be the type of person who will never face financial struggles, even if featured on ESPN’s “Broke” series, should it return. In other NFL quarterback news, the Green Bay Packers are reportedly signing a notable MVP quarterback, while Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow was carted off the field after an apparent serious injury.
Minshew’s move to the Indianapolis Colts marks a reunion with former Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen, who became the Colts’ head coach after the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Originally selected as a sixth-round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Washington State, Minshew played in five games for the Eagles as Jalen Hurts’ backup this past season.
The Jaguars traded Minshew to the Eagles in exchange for a conditional 2022 sixth-round draft pick before the start of the 2021 season. During the 2022 season, Minshew accumulated 663 passing yards, three touchdowns, three interceptions, and a passer rating of 83.4.
