Saquon Barkley has recently signed a one-year deal with the New York Giants worth up to $11 million, including a $2 million signing bonus.
However, some people, such as former NFL president and CEO Joe Banner, are critical of the deal as they believe it sets a bad precedent for running backs in negotiations.

Despite considering not playing this season due to a contract dispute, Barkley ultimately decided to join his teammates in training camp.
Since a long-term agreement was not reached before the deadline, Barkley would have had to play this season under the franchise tender. He was not pleased with the way negotiations were portrayed and felt unfairly labeled as “greedy.”
Regardless, Barkley had an impressive season last year, finishing fourth in rushing yards with 1,312 and 10 touchdowns. If he continues to perform well and stays healthy, he may secure a lucrative contract in the future.
