Skip Bayless has built his entire career around ripping LeBron.
During the early 2000s, ESPN2 aired Cold Pizza and First Take, introducing sports fans to an Oklahoma-based commentator named Skip Bayless.
Known for his brutally honest opinions, Bayless captivated audiences by fearlessly challenging superstar athletes like LeBron James and Terrell Owens, a rare practice in network television at the time.
Fast forward nearly two decades, and both James and Bayless have solidified their positions as all-time greats in their respective fields.
While James has gone through uniform and team changes, one alteration that Bayless has openly criticized is James’ recent switch from jersey number #6 back to #23, the iconic number made famous worldwide by Michael Jordan.
Taking to social media, the co-creator of Undisputed on FS1 didn’t hold back, labeling James as “thin-skinned,” “insecure,” and a “blame-deflecting diva.”

Bayless proceeded to highlight James’ shortcomings in the Western Conference Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets, analyzing his speech from the 2023 ESPY Awards, and voicing his opinion on James’ decision to change his jersey number for the second time since joining the Lakers in 2018.
The award-winning journalist also pointed out that James’ return to #23 is seen by many as an attempt to chase Jordan’s legacy, drawing a parallel to when Lakers legend Kobe Bryant changed his number from #8 to #24, also perceived as a quest for Jordan’s NBA crown.
