Awkward.
Vikings quarterback, Kirk Cousins, recently shared his thoughts on being overlooked by his teammate Justin Jefferson for his list of the top-five quarterbacks in the NFL.
Jefferson’s rankings, which went viral after a clip from his trip to Brazil as an NFL ambassador, placed Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts, and Josh Allen as the best QBs in the game.
During an interview on KFAN-FM 100.3’s The Power Trip, Cousins was asked about his exclusion from Jefferson’s list. Initially unaware of the ranking, Cousins graciously accepted Jefferson’s opinion and looked towards their future.
He said, “I didn’t even see it, so this is the first time hearing about it. As a competitor, yeah, you’d always want to be included, but people have to be honest and share what they think. Hopefully, in 2024, I’ll be on his list. We’ll see what we can do this year.”
Cousins made it clear that there are no hard feelings between him and Jefferson, but it’s understandable that he would prefer to be recognized in the future.
Ultimately, what matters most for both Cousins and Jefferson, the 2022 Offensive Player of the Year, will be how the Vikings bounce back from their 13-4 season that ended in the Wild Card round.
However, Jefferson’s omission of Cousins from his list is likely to be memorable for fans, considering the criticism Cousins has faced throughout his career.
