Byron Washington, a towering high school senior from Texas, is making headlines as one of the most physically imposing players in the country. Standing at an incredible 6-foot-8 and weighing in at 380 pounds, Washington dwarfs both his teammates and opponents, making them look like they belong in a different league altogether.
But it’s not just his size that’s getting attention—his ability to dominate on the field is equally impressive, as demonstrated during a jaw-dropping moment on Friday night when he blocked four players at the same time.
Washington, who plays for DeSoto High School, showcased his extraordinary strength and technique in the game against Duncanville, one of the top-ranked teams in the nation.
At one point during the game, Washington not only blocked multiple defenders, but also two of his own teammates, creating a path for running back Tiger Riden to waltz into the end zone with ease. The sheer power and ease with which Washington handled his opposition was nothing short of astounding.

Although Washington’s size is certainly a defining feature, it’s clear that there’s much more to him as a player. His ability to move fluidly despite his massive frame makes him a standout offensive lineman, and his performance on the field consistently leaves coaches, scouts, and fans in awe. Watching him go through pregame warmups is an event in itself, as he towers over his peers and moves with surprising agility for someone his size.
This isn’t the first time Washington’s size and skill have turned heads. Last year, during a recruiting visit to the University of Texas, he even made head coach Steve Sarkisian look small by comparison.
Unsurprisingly, Washington has been highly sought after by numerous college programs, and his presence is impossible to miss—both on and off the field.
After receiving offers from schools like Arizona State, TCU, Oregon, UCF, Duke, and Houston, Washington ultimately committed to Syracuse.
The Orange landed the three-star prospect, and they couldn’t be more thrilled to have him anchoring their future offensive line. His ability to block multiple players at once, as he did on Friday, showcases exactly why Syracuse is excited about his potential.
Despite DeSoto High School’s 17th-ranked team losing to Duncanville, the fourth-ranked team in the country, Washington’s efforts didn’t go unnoticed. He helped spark a second-half rally, leading by example with his dominant play. While the Eagles couldn’t secure the win, Washington’s performance demonstrated why he’s such a valuable asset, both for his high school team and for his future college program.
On the play that had everyone talking, Washington didn’t even seem to be exerting maximum effort. By simply getting low and setting up an immovable wall of power, he allowed Riden to stroll into the end zone, barely touched by defenders. It was a glimpse of just how dominant Washington can be when he’s in his element.
With his college future secured and a bright career ahead of him, Byron Washington is proving to be much more than just a big body on the field.
His strength, skill, and football IQ are making him one of the most exciting young prospects to watch, and college fans are already eager to see what he’ll bring to Syracuse’s offensive line in the years to come.
