Just a day following a heated confrontation between Barstool Sports CEO Dave Portnoy and the owner of Dragon Pizza in Somerville, Massachusetts, the pizzeria found itself bustling with seemingly contented customers.

In fact, one customer offered a different perspective on Portnoy’s review, giving their slice – a maple bacon variant – a significantly higher rating than Portnoy had awarded.
While munching on the slice, the customer remarked, “I’d give this one around a 9 out of 10… Although it’s a bit floppy, I must agree on that point. Yeah, I saw the altercation. I thought it was better than he rated it, but that’s just my personal taste.
The owner, identified as Charlie Redd by the Boston Globe, seemed a bit out of control, maybe he was having a rough day.”
Dave Portnoy, the 46-year-old who recently reacquired Barstool Sports for $1, made a visit to the pizza establishment for one of his trademark pizza reviews, famously known as “One Bite.”

In this series, Portnoy visits renowned pizzerias, takes a single bite, and then records a review, assigning a rating between 1 and 10.
Portnoy evidently didn’t find his Dragon Pizza slice to his liking, labeling it as “trash” and a “soggy mess” while granting it a rating of 6.4.
This is when Charlie Redd emerged and confronted Portnoy, expressing his displeasure. “Enjoy your pizza like any other customer, but I don’t appreciate you passing judgment on a business based on just one bite,” Redd stated. When Portnoy responded by mentioning his support for small businesses, Redd retorted, “I don’t see it that way,” before returning to the pizzeria.
Moments later, Redd reappeared and asked Portnoy to move away from his establishment. Portnoy responded with repeated profanities, including calling the owner a “motherf–ker” and an “a–hole.”
Redd threatened to call the police, and when Portnoy asked why, he replied, “for being a f–king bitch.”
Despite Redd’s presence in the pizzeria on Friday, he seemed uninterested in using the attention for newfound fame. A paper plate with the words “we are not talking about it” was taped to the window.
Charlie Redd, the proprietor of Dragon Pizza, also ventured onto Instagram to share his first edition of “The Gospel.” The headline adorning the newsletter boldly proclaimed, “David vs. Goliath.”
