The president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, is facing criticism after kissing forward on the lips during the Women’s World Cup award ceremony.
Rubiales hugged and kissed Hermoso when she approached him to receive her medal.
Although Hermoso mentioned her discomfort with the kiss during a live stream, she later downplayed it as an emotional moment.

However, Spain’s Minister for Culture and Sport, Miquel Iceta, deemed the kiss “unacceptable” and called for an explanation from Rubiales.
“But what do I do? I didn’t like it, eh,” Hermoso said in Spanish.
“Pero qué hago yo? No me ha gustado eh”

“It was because of the emotion of the moment, there’s nothing more there,” Hermoso told the radio show El Tiempo de Juego, via CNN. “It’s just going to be an anecdote [of the time]. I’m absolutely sure it won’t be blown up more.”
It is worth noting that the Spanish women’s national team has previously faced scrutiny over working conditions and the actions of their head coach.
