Nathaniel Hackett is unhappy with Sean Payton, the head coach of the Denver Broncos, after Payton criticized Hackett’s coaching performance during his time with the Broncos.
Hackett expressed his frustration with Payton’s comments and mentioned that there is a certain code and way of doing things in the NFL.
He was surprised that the comments were made well before the two teams are scheduled to face each other in Week 5 of this season.
“There’s a code,” Hackett said, according to The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt. “There’s a way things are done. … It’s unfortunate about the comments that were made, but they did.”
Despite the lack of an apology from Payton, Hackett stated that he is moving on from the incident.
Payton had also commented that the current Jets team could have a similarly embarrassing year to the 2022 Broncos.
While Payton publicly expressed regret for his comments, Hackett has not received an apology and is not expecting one.
Aaron Rodgers, the Jets quarterback who played with Hackett during his time with the Green Bay Packers, defended Hackett and criticized Payton’s comments as inappropriate and out of line.
