DeAndre Hopkins is keeping tabs.
Over the weekend, DeAndre Hopkins made a decision that ended up backfiring on him, similar to what happened with Kevin Durant in the past.
The star wide receiver agreed to a contract with the Tennessee Titans, potentially earning up to $32 million over the next two seasons.
After this news broke, a fervent Patriots fan on Twitter, @BabzOnTheMic, sarcastically claimed that he never wanted Hopkins on the team anyway and that the Patriots made the right choice.
He even went as far as predicting that Hopkins will have a disappointing season.
In response, Hopkins, following Durant’s example, engaged in a Twitter spat with @BabzOnTheMic without realizing that the fan was being sarcastic.

Once Hopkins realized his mistake, he promptly deleted his tweet and issued an apology to @BabzOnTheMic, clearing the air between them.

Nevertheless, Hopkins’ recent performance has raised some concerns.
While he had an impressive first season with the Arizona Cardinals, gaining 1,407 yards, he struggled in the past two years, managing only 572 yards in 2021 and 717 yards in 2022, alongside a six-game suspension for PED use.
@BabzOnTheMic may have been sarcastic, but his skepticism about Hopkins’ signing with the Titans is valid, especially considering the team’s decision to trade away a talented young wide receiver, A.J. Brown, last year.
If Hopkins fails to regain his form in Nashville, this could become one of the offseason’s worst signings in 2023.
