Alvin Kamara, the running back for the New Orleans Saints, has agreed to enter a no-contest plea in connection with a fight that took place in New Vegas in 2022.
Initially facing misdemeanor charges of conspiracy to commit battery and a felony charge of battery with substantial bodily harm, Kamara’s plea means he will no longer face felony charges. Instead, he will plead no contest to a misdemeanor charge of breaching the peace.
“Alvin is pleased that this matter is behind him and looks forward to a successful NFL season,” Kamara’s attorney David Chesnoff said in a statement.
The charge stems from his arrest in February 2022, when Kamara and three other men were accused of assaulting someone outside of a Vegas nightclub. What made the case notable was that the assault reportedly took place the night before the NFL Pro Bowl, and Kamara still played in the game before being taken into custody.
Kamara had previously reached a private settlement with the victim, Darnell Greene Jr., on July 10, 2023.
As part of his plea agreement, Kamara will be sentenced to 30 hours of community service and will also provide a financial settlement of $105,000 to Greene Jr. Following the decision, Kamara took to Twitter to drop a cryptic tweet.

The upcoming season is expected to be highly significant for Kamara and the Saints as they aim for their first playoff appearance since 2020.
After struggling without a consistent starting quarterback for the past two seasons, the Saints made a significant move by signing former Raiders QB Derek Carr.
He will be supported by Jameis Winston, who has faced criticism in the past, and rookie Jake Haener, a fourth-round pick.
The team also prioritized their defense in the draft, selecting two promising D-line prospects in their top picks. They also strengthened their roster depth through free agency, which included the addition of Foster Moreau.
Kamara, known for his exceptional running skills, is determined to surpass the 1000-yard rushing mark for the first time in his career.
Despite being a prolific running back, it is often overlooked that he has never achieved this milestone in a single season. In 2022, Kamara recorded 897 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns, along with 490 yards and 2 receiving touchdowns.
In addition, his contract allows for a potential exit after the season, although it is unlikely that the team would choose to exercise this option.
Nevertheless, technically, Kamara is playing in a contract year in 2023.
