Where will Shohei Ohtani land next season?
Reports indicate that Shohei Ohtani’s time with the Los Angeles Angels is likely coming to an end, however, he may remain in Los Angeles.
According to the L.A. Times, the Los Angeles Dodgers are the front-runners to acquire the MVP candidate.
Ohtani expressed his frustration with the Angels’ struggles, stating that it “sucks to lose.”
The Times quotes anonymous rival team executives who believe that the Dodgers are the top choice. Multiple agents, given anonymity, also agree with this assessment.
“One rival team executive, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because tampering rules forbid him from discussing prospective free agents on other teams, was willing to bet a sushi dinner on the Dodgers. Three other executives echoed that it’s the Dodgers and then everyone else. Multiple agents, granted anonymity to speak freely, agreed.”
The Dodgers’ infatuation with Shohei Ohtani spans two ownership groups, two front office regimes, and two pursuits over more than a decade. It goes back to when Ohtani went by “Otani” and two-way dominance was a fantasy.
