You have to love NBA conspiracy theories. We now have one regarding the Celtics-Heat series.
It is becoming increasingly common for people to propose theories of game rigging after major sporting events. While some theories are far-fetched, others cause people to question whether there was something suspicious going on.
A video discussing the Celtics and Heat Game 6 thriller suggests that there may have been something fishy going on. The Celtics were leading late into the fourth quarter, but the Heat rallied to take the lead with just three seconds left.
However, a buzzer-beating tip-in by Derrick White resulted in a win for Boston. The NBA must be thrilled as this series has provided fans with an excellent playoff display.
However, Instagram user @allhailbball suggests that two issues from the end of the game contribute to the theory that something isn’t adding up.
Watch below:
One of these is how a Duncan Robinson defensive foul looked more like an offensive foul on Marcus Smart, and the other is that there was an extra .5 seconds added to the clock, which could have led to the difference in the final score.
NBA refs are human, so there will always be mistakes made. Either way, this Celtics-Heat series has been a fantastic watch and Game 7 will be historic if the Celtics can win. Expect more NBA conspiracy theories as the NBA playoffs continue on.
