Arizona Cardinals Release Star WR DeAndre Hopkins
DeAndre Hopkins better call his real estate agent because he’s no longer with the Arizona Cardinals.
The Arizona Cardinals have announced the release of DeAndre Hopkins, with the wide receiver having two years remaining on his current contract. Hopkins’ cap hit for 2022 is $30.7 million, dropping to $26.2 million in 2024.

The Cardinals will gain $8.1 million in cap space following the move, but they will take a dead-money hit of $22.6 million for 2023. Had they not released or traded Hopkins before June 1, the team would have freed up $19.4 million in 2023 and $14.9 million in 2024, but with a dead-money hit of $11.3 million per season.
Hopkins was linked with various teams as a potential trade target, including the Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills.
Despite missing seven games in 2021 due to injuries, Hopkins still led all Cardinals pass catchers with eight touchdowns.
The Cardinals will now likely look to Hollywood Brown as their primary wide receiver, with Rondale Moore, Zach Pascal and Greg Dortch also expected to receive significant playing time.
