Reports indicate that 15 fans required hospitalization due to the extremely cold conditions at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday night during the Chiefs vs. Dolphins game.
The game started as the fourth coldest in NFL history, with a temperature of minus-4 and a wind chill around negative-30.
The National Weather Service had warned fans to cover their entire bodies due to the harsh weather conditions. According to a Kansas City Fire Department spokesperson, first responders received 69 calls from the game, with 15 individuals being treated at a local hospital.

Fans were also treated at the KU Health System’s first aid station in the stadium. Out of the 17 treated, seven were for hypothermia, and three were for frostbite.

Seven of those victims suffered from hypothermia, three needed hospital treatment for frostbite and five others had various concerns, the department spokesperson said via ABC 15.
The cold had widespread effects, including drinks exploding, Andy Reid’s mustache freezing over, and Patrick Mahomes’ helmet cracking. Fortunately, there have been no reports of anything worse than the described incidents.
