Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout has received some devastating injury news.
Trout, who has dealt with major injuries for a large part of the previous three seasons, will need surgery to repair a torn meniscus.
It is not expected to be season-ending, but there is no timetable for his return.
This from ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez:
“NEWS: Mike Trout needs surgery on his knee, sources tell me and @JeffPassan. The extent is not known, but a source said it is not expected to be season-ending.
Story shortly on ESPN.”

It’s much of the same for the Angels star who has played in less than 50% of games since the 2021 MLB season.
Widely regarded as one of the great players of this generation, Trout’s departure from the lineup will be a huge blow to the Angels who of course saw fellow superstar Shohei Ohtani depart for the Los Angeles Dodgers before the season.
Trout was batting .220 with 10 home runs and 14 RBIs through 29 games this season.
The 32-year-old is a three-time American League MVP and 11-time All-Star for the Angels who he has played his entire career with since the 2011 season.
With Trout, the Angels were a dismal 11-18 and five games back in the AL West.
It is very likely to only get worse from here without Trout who was responsible for nearly 33% of their home runs this season thus far.
