The Dallas Cowboys are the 24th best team in something.
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had many significant quotes during his NFL Draft press conference, but nothing was more noteworthy than the number 24.
The Cowboys will be picking 24th overall in the NFL draft which begins Thursday night.
However, Jerry Jones is very confused about why apparently.
“Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says the team is picking 24th overall in this year’s draft because they were the 24th best team in the NFL last season”
He is right that they are picking 24th overall which is really all that matters.
However, he needs to do a little subtraction from 32 to figure out this math problem.
On a more serious note, Jones made a seemingly definitive statement on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott who heads into the final year of his contract.
This from The Athletic’s Jon Machota:
“We want Dak Prescott. That’s that. The improvement demonstrated (last season) that there’s more. We want Dak. We think there is room for growth. “Dak, quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, I wouldn’t even blink on that.”
The Cowboys won the NFC East last year with a 12-5 record, but of course lost at home to the Green Bay Packers in their first playoff game.
The Cowboys will enter the 2024 NFL season seeking their first Super Bowl appearance since January of 1996 which resulted in a victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
